My 7 years experience in the Graphic Design industry all started in year 2000. I had friends and family in grades ahead of me who took a cource called "Computers 12". All I heard from those who had enrolled into the course, making a fuss about how hard websites were to create. |

Knowing I would be enrolling in the course, I questioned the actual difficulty of the lesson about web design. I started reading online tutorials and found a few books on how to get started, I also got interested in Macromedia Flash®. My starting a year before I got into the course gave me a huge advantage over the other students, I started designing sites for people after school hours for some extra cash. |

The day finally arrived that I was sitting in the large lab with only a handful of other students who were "Brave" enough to enroll into Mrs. Fellows computers 12 course. We started the course with Word®, Excel®, Powerpoint® assignments which I zipped right through, then moved onto web designing. Oh My! This was where the course took a turn for the worst for the other students. |

Looking back from what I have taught myself now, the class was taught only the "Basics" of web design, the nitty gritty if you will. Writing all the code out in notepad and saving as a .html extension seemed so impossible or just confusing for some to comprehend. Our final assignment was to create a website and have certain elements in it that the teacher chose. I remember having to have at least 3 images, links had to be fully functional and have all the color attributes working, 1 marquee banner, proper copyright where applicable, and also have a proper tittle. I got 100 on the assignment while other students were near to failing. |

After my passing of the course, I started aiming my post secondary education thoughts towards graphic & web design. I applied to NSCC for their Applied Communication Arts Program "ACAP". During the year I continued to build Graffiti-Designs and build a client base. At the last school assembly, I premiered a flash movie that blew the minds of my teachers and fellow students, which nominated me for the "Annapolis Royal Arts Council Bursary". I got accepted to NSCC right before I had my grade 12 graduation.

I started my first year of ACAP and learned a lot of different little tecniques in photoshop and in adobe illustrator. Having a past history in html, css, php gave me an advantage over the students in this course as well. I made many friends who have enfluenced me. At the end of my ACAP course, I applied for Graphic-Design and got accepted.

The graphic design course was something else, I am not one to complain but let me just say, I didn't learn very much from my second year. I got some large clients during my 2 years at NSCC. During the last year I made it a my main priority to complete my "Signiture Graffiti" website design and further my understanding about valid html and css. I also taught myself how to create Wordpress® templates and also how to control the wordpress® control panel interface.
